²² Then tell Pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son. ²³ I told you to let my son go so that he may worship me. But you refused to let him go. So now I’m going to kill your firstborn son.’ ”

²⁴ Along the way they stopped for the night. The Lord met Moses and tried to kill him.
